KUWAIT CITY, April: Kuwait Club is poised for victory in the West Asian Basketball League’s Gulf region as they face off against Manama at 8:00 pm in the pivotal second match of the playoff finals. The showdown unfolds at the Al-Ittihad Hall within the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Indoor Hall Complex.

In a thrilling opener last week at the Khalifa Sports Hall in Manama, Kuwait’s Al-Abyad secured an 86-74 victory over Manama.

The final round adopts a playoff format of three matches, with the championship awarded to the team winning two matches.

Joining the final fray alongside Kuwait Club and Manama is Kazma. The competition also features three teams from the Levant region, alongside India and Kazakhstan’s champions.

The tournament’s climax is scheduled for June, with Kuwait keen to defend its title, secured last season at the expense of Manama. However, it faced defeat to the same opponent in the final match of the continental group stage.

The victor of the Asian Group secures representation for the continent in the World Club Championship.

Kuwait’s journey toward the title has been marked by numerous challenges, yet Al-Abyad has navigated them with commendable skill. Now, they stand on the brink of claiming the coveted title. Under the guidance of German coach Peter Schumers, Kuwait’s team has shown remarkable prowess, bringing them within touching distance of the championship cup. With their fans rallying behind them, they aim to replicate their earlier success.
