Crackdown shuts 123 Garages for Fixing Loud Mufflers for Vehicles in Jleeb

KUWAIT CITY, May 8: Under the leadership of Major General Yousef Al Khadda, the Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic and Operations Affairs, the General Traffic Department launched an inspection campaign targeting workshops, garages, and craftsmen in the Jleeb Al Shuyoukh area. The objective was to curb vehicles using loud mufflers to amplify exhaust sound and apprehend violators. Multiple government agencies collaborated in the campaign, resulting in the identification of 123 traffic violations, seizure of two vehicles, and arrest of 22 individuals for violating residency laws. The Ministry of Commerce filed six arrest reports, while the Ministry of Electricity disconnected power supply to 17 workshops. The Food Authority issued 14 violations to delivery vehicles, orders, and ice cream carts.

Furthermore, the municipality affixed 90 stickers on abandoned vehicles obstructing roads, removed seven abandoned vehicles, and permanently shut down three unlicensed workshops. The Industry Authority imposed fines on nine workshops for breaching housing laws applicable to such establishments. Supervised by Brigadier General Munif Sari Al-Mutairi, Acting Director General of the General Administration of Traffic, and supported by Brigadier General Ghazi Nayef Abu Qaba, Assistant Director General of the General Administration of Traffic for Technical Affairs, Brigadier Ashraf Al-Amir, and several security personnel, the campaign aimed to ensure effectiveness and regulatory compliance.
