KUWAIT CITY, Aug 9: An inspection team from the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition recently launched a surprise inspection campaign and shut down shop in Shuwaikh for selling meat unfit for human consumption, reports Al-Rai daily.

The daily added during the raid 650 kilos of meat was seized. The inspectors also shut down a well-known restaurant in Mubarakiya in downtown Kuwait City for selling food unfit for human consumption.

It is said the food contained harmful bacteria due to lack of cleanliness among restaurant workers. Ali Hashem Al-Kandari, head of the inspection team said random food samples had earlier been taken from the restaurant and sent to the Ministry of Health laboratory.

The result showed food was unsuitable for human consumption, so the restaurant was closed and those responsible have been referred to the Public Prosecution. The team also shut down a kiosk selling juices in the same area
