Higher Education Sports Games scheduled for Sunday

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 26: The Kuwait School Sports and Higher Education Federation made an exciting announcement regarding the upcoming launch of the third edition of the Higher Education Sports Games and the Warba League for the secondary stage, scheduled to commence next Sunday.

In celebration of this momentous occasion, the School Sports Federation held a press conference to mark the signing of a strategic partnership with Warba Bank. During the conference, they also conducted the draw for these two prestigious competitions. The event was graced with the presence of Yousef Al-Baidan, the Director General of the General Sports Authority, as well as a number of esteemed athletes and representatives from the Ministries of Education and Information.

This seven-month-long edition of the competition promises the participation of approximately five thousand students, both male and female, who will represent 16 university educational institutions and a significant number of Kuwaiti secondary schools.

Yousef Al-Baidan, in a statement to reporters, emphasized that this partnership exemplifies the social responsibility that commercial institutions hold toward society by supporting sports through the School Sports Federation. In turn, this support bolsters school sports and higher education in Kuwait. He further expressed the strong backing of the Sports Authority for the efforts made by the Federation and Warba Bank to organize these events, recognizing the vital role of school sports in identifying and nurturing athletic talents.

Faisal Al-Maqseed, the President of the Federation, highlighted in his speech during the ceremony the Federation’s dedication over the past years to promote sports activities in Ministry of Education schools and universities. Their aim has been to instill an awareness of educational sports in accordance with their strategic plan for the years 2021 to 2026, aptly titled “Our Talents in Our Schools.” He stressed their commitment to continuous progress and further successes, building upon the achievements of the past three years.

In a similar speech, Hamad Al-Sayer, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Warba Bank, underlined that the partnership with the Federation is part of the bank’s efforts to support youth and sports. He also acknowledged the significant role the Federation plays in providing students with the means to develop their athletic talents, thereby helping them achieve their ambitions and reach professional levels in sports. The partnership also affords students the opportunity to engage with local and international sports clubs.
