First Kuwait Sports Day kicks off

The First Kuwait Sports Day will kickoff on Saturday, Dec 17 at the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium where the gates will be opened for the sports fans at 2:00 pm. A number of top officials and dignitaries are expected to attend the event along with many fans.

Sports associations, clubs and the committee affiliated to Kuwait Olympics Committee, which is the organizer of the event, will participate in this unique event which will be held under the patronage and in the presence of the Minister of Information and State Minister for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Hamoud Al-Sabah.

Fans will get to watch the finals of the amateur football organized by Kuwait Football Association, along with the finals of some athletics events.

The event will end with the honoring of all winners in the competitions that were held in the last few weeks.

The event is aimed at encouraging youth sports and the upcoming sportsmen and sportswomen, giving them the opportunity to practice their sports and compete, and enhancing the spirit of sports during competitions.

The sports activities that are scheduled include Judo, Taekwondo, football, basketball, handball, boxing, weight lifting, gymnastics, athletics, karate, tennis, table tennis and fencing for the disabled.  (KUNA)
