General Authority for Sports signs milestone contracts for stadium designs

The Director General of the General Sports Authority, Yousef Abdullah Al-Baidan signed the milestone contracts for the stadium designs.

KUWAIT CITY, March 6: The Director General of the General Sports Authority, Yousef Abdullah Al-Baidan, has officially inked contracts for the design of a football stadium at Al-Kuwait Club and Mohammed Al-Hamad Stadium at Al-Qadisiya Club, both without a track. This strategic move aligns with the Authority’s comprehensive plan to modernize sports facilities within various clubs, aiming to revamp structures that have stood for over 50 years in line with contemporary standards and the stringent requirements of international federations.

The contract signing took place in the presence of key figures, including Engineer Hussein Taqi, Director of the Projects Design Department, Engineer Noura Al-Othman, Head of the Major Projects Department, Engineer Rania Al-Dawla, Head of the Small Projects Department, and Hiyam Al-Daham, Director of the Legal Affairs Department.

Yousef Al-Baidan, the Director General of the Public Authority for Sports, emphasized that these contract signings mark the initial step in an overarching plan to upgrade existing sports facilities, ensuring they adhere to international standards for hosting Asian and global championships.

Al-Baidan further explained that the new designs prioritize essential infrastructure elements, encompassing parking facilities beneath the stands, VIP areas, private family cabins, player service areas, training halls, and dedicated spaces for media. Each club will also boast two well-equipped training fields suitable for both matches and training sessions.

Highlighting the Authority’s forward-looking strategy, Al-Baidan revealed plans to replace and enhance the Friendship and Peace Stadium at the Kazma Club and the Sabah Al-Salem Stadium at the Al-Arabi Club in the upcoming period.
