The 48-year-old host, accompanied by Kathryn Newton, Cole Sprouse, and Robin’s daughter, Zelda Williams, delved into a discussion about their film collaboration, including Zelda’s directorial debut, Lisa Frankenstein.

Sharing the stage with Zelda, Barrymore couldn’t help but express her emotions about the legendary actor and comedian. Zelda, 34, received applause from the audience as Barrymore acknowledged her as Robin’s child. Responding to the applause, Zelda remarked on Barrymore looking emotional, to which the host explained, “Because he means so much to so many people.”

Barrymore recounted her first encounter with Robin Williams when she was a budding child actor at the age of 7. This memorable meeting occurred in 1982, just months after Barrymore’s debut in E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. She revealed that Steven Spielberg, the director of E.T., brought Williams to Saturday Night Live, an event she was hosting at the tender age of 7.

To the astonishment of her guests, Barrymore proudly asserted, “Still the youngest host, yes!” The actress admitted she wasn’t nervous about hosting SNL until Robin Williams arrived. She confessed, “But I wasn’t nervous until your dad came, and then I got nervous,” highlighting the awe-inspiring presence of Williams.
