KUWAIT CITY, Jan 13: In a recent milestone, Kuwait’s strategic water reserve has broken records by reaching an unprecedented total of 4,186 million imperial gallons. This marks an 11 million-gallon increase from the highest rate recorded earlier in the week, showcasing the nation’s commitment to water security.

Informed sources within the ministry disclosed to Al-Rai that a series of ongoing and future projects are underway to augment water storage capacity in response to the expanding residential areas. The primary objective is to fortify Kuwait’s strategic water reserve, encompassing key initiatives such as the nine Al-Mutlaa reservoir projects and reservoir developments in the Wafra and Na’ayem areas.

The surge in water stock levels during this period, compared to a significant 72 percent decrease a few months ago, is attributed to meticulous coordination among concerned sectors. Notably, the maintenance of distillers and effective water network management have played pivotal roles in this reversal.

Addressing the Gulf water connection project, sources clarified that discussions are ongoing. The initial plan involves establishing a bilateral connection between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia before extending the connection to encompass other Gulf countries. This strategic approach underscores Kuwait’s dedication to enhancing water infrastructure and fostering collaborative regional solutions for water resources.
