Kuwait’s Vision 2030: A Renewed Focus on Renewable Energy and Sustainability

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 26: Dr. Falah Al-Hajraf, Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, along with Minister of State for Housing Affairs, reiterated Kuwait’s dedication to expanding renewable energy projects. This commitment is in line with the country’s vision to generate a minimum of 15 percent of electrical energy during peak times from renewable sources by 2030, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

On the occasion of International Clean Energy Day, Minister Al-Hajraf emphasized the need to expedite the implementation of the Al-Shaqaya renewable energy project. The project boasts a production capacity of 4,500 megawatts, distributed across four phases utilizing diverse solar energy technologies. The objective is to pave the way for a sustainable future for Kuwait.

It is noteworthy that January 26 has been recognized by the United Nations General Assembly as International Clean Energy Day. The day aims to enhance global awareness and promote efforts for a just and comprehensive transition to clean energy for the betterment of humanity and the planet.
