Kuwait squash team continues to shine at the Qatar Championship

DOHA, April 24: The Kuwaiti squash national team continued its string of positive outcomes at the Qatar International Open Championship, hosted at the Khalifa International Complex in the capital city of Doha, with the tournament concluding today.

In the U-11 category, Salman Al-Saleh secured a spot in the semi-finals by defeating his Iranian opponent, Mustafa Ahrari, 3-0. Similarly, Saleh Al-Kandari advanced to the semi-finals in the U-13 category after a hard-fought victory against Qatari player Omar Faraj, with a score of 3-2.

However, in the under-15 category, Abdul Rahman Al-Kandari faced a tough challenge and was defeated by the top-seeded Malaysian player, Muhammad Razi, with a score of 0-3.

In the under-17 category, Abdullah Hani demonstrated impressive skills, securing a spot in the quarter-finals after a convincing win over Qatari player Ali Darwish, with a score of 3-0. Likewise, Khaled Al-Fawzan advanced to the same round with a commanding victory against Qatari player Khaled Al-Hammadi, also with a score of 3-0.

In the under-19 category, Abdul Rahman Al-Maghribi showcased exceptional performance, earning a place in the semi-finals by defeating Pakistani player Saad Saeed with a score of 3-0.

Hamed Al-Omran, the head of the delegation and Secretary General of the Squash Federation commended the emerging players for their remarkable performances in the tournament. He expressed optimism for achieving further positive results to elevate Kuwait’s reputation in the sport.

Al-Omran emphasized the importance of such tournaments, which provide valuable experience for players from various countries and contribute to their development in the sport.
