DOHA, April 21: The Qatar International Open Squash Championship kicks off today at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha, culminating on the 25th of this month. Seven players from the Kuwaiti national team are set to compete in the tournament.
The journey for the Blue players commences with Salman Al-Saleh facing off against Ayoub Zaman from Pakistan in the round of 32. In the U-13 category, Saleh Al-Kandari will take on Youssef Al-Naimi from Qatar in the same round. Meanwhile, Abdulrahman Al-Kandari will compete against Mohammed Al-Fayad from Qatar in the U-15 level round of 32.
In the U-17 category, Khaled Al-Fawzan is scheduled to play against Chandra Molly from Singapore, and Abdullah Hani will meet the Iranian player Irfan Tagan in the round of 32. Moving to the U-19 category, Fahd Al-Ghais will square off against Muhammad Al-Batayneh from Jordan in the round of 16, while Abdul Rahman Al-Maghribi has already secured a spot in the quarter-finals and will face Pakistani player Saad Saeed.
The delegation, led by Secretary General Hamed Al-Omran, along with technical staff members Ahmed Abdel-Al and Majid Khan, underwent a five-day training camp in Doha. The players engaged in rigorous training sessions held both in the morning and evening, supplemented by numerous friendly matches to fine-tune their skills ahead of the tournament.
