KUWAIT CITY, May 2: In a recent statement released by the Ministry of Health, it was asserted that no unexpected side effects have been observed from the anti-COVID-19 vaccines administered in the State of Kuwait. This announcement comes in response to concerns raised regarding data about one of the COVID-19 vaccinations.

The Ministry clarified that it has not identified any cases demonstrating a causal relationship between blood clotting syndrome with thrombocytopenia, nor has there been a surge in the number of clot cases following the COVID-19 vaccination drive in the country.

Emphasizing the paramount importance of preventive measures and immune protection garnered through vaccinations, the Ministry underscored that the benefits far outweigh the potential risks of rare vaccination-related complications. This is particularly critical during times of heightened epidemics, targeting vulnerable populations such as the elderly and individuals with compromised immune systems.

Since 2021, there have been sporadic mentions of blood clotting as a rare side effect associated with some COVID-19 vaccines. However, the Ministry highlighted that the incidence rate of such complications is lower than the rate of clotting observed as a complication of COVID-19 infection among unvaccinated individuals.

The approved COVID-19 vaccines in Kuwait have received authorization from specialized international medical bodies, with the current vaccines boasting flexibility for modification to tackle emerging variants.

Reiterating recommendations for specific segments of society to receive vaccinations by established preventive protocols, the Ministry highlighted the accessibility of vaccination data and COVID-19 vaccine certificates through the unified government application “Sahel”. This platform aims to streamline services and transactions for citizens, ensuring ease of access to crucial health information and services.

The Ministry’s statement seeks to allay concerns and reaffirm confidence in the safety and efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines administered in Kuwait, encouraging widespread uptake to mitigate the spread of the virus and safeguard public health.
