Al-Arabi looking to leapfrog Kuwait Club, faces Al-Nasr

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 15: Zain Premier League sixteenth round kicks off with Al-Jahra taking on Al-Shabab at Abdullah Al-Khalifa Al-Sabah Stadium at 4:45 pm.The action continues tomorrow with two matches. First, Al-Arabi looking to leapfrog leader Kuwait Club when its faces Al-Nasr at Sabah Al-Salem Stadium at 4:45 pm. Later, Al-Salmiya goes head-to-head with Khaitan at Nasser Al-Osaimi Stadium at 7:30 pm.

The round concludes the day after tomorrow, Sunday, with Al-Fahaheel meeting Kuwait at the Friendship and Peace Stadium at 4:45 pm. The round culminates with a match between Al-Qadisiya and Kazma at Mohammed Al-Hamad Stadium at 7:30 pm.

Kuwait Club leads the standings with 36 points, closely followed by Al-Arabi on the same points, but trails on goals for and Al-Qadisiya in third with 32 points. Other teams in the league include Salmiya with 23 points, Al-Nasr with 21 points, Al-Fahaheel and Kazma both with 18 points, Al-Shabab with 14 points, Khaitan with 8 points, and Al-Jahra at the bottom with only two points.

The clash between Al-Jahra and Al-Shabab is dubbed “Saving what can be saved.” Al-Shabab aims to cling to hope for playing with the Big Six, counting on today’s match points while hoping for stumbles from Al-Fahaheel and Kazma in future rounds.Meanwhile, Al-Jahra aims to make an impact before participating in the “Avoid Relegation” league, seeking its first victory after enduring 13 defeats and two draws.

In tomorrow’s match, Al-Arabi faces Al-Nasr, with Al-Arabi looking to reclaim its reputation after defeating Al-Nasr 3-1 in the first division. Al-Nasr, on the other hand, aims to halt the point losses after a 1-2 defeat to Al-Fahaheel in the last round and seeks revenge for a 3-1 loss in the Amir Cup quarter-finals.In another match, Al-Salmiya aims to continue its positive streak, asserting its dominance over Khaitan, having previously defeated them 3-1 in the league and 4-2 on penalties in the Emir Cup preliminary round.
