KUWAIT CITY, May 7: Tunisian Kuwait coach Nabil Maaloul orchestrated a triumphant performance securing three crucial points against Al-Fahaheel despite facing adversity in the Zain Premier League group match, Maaloul's team persevered with only nine players after the expulsion of Mohamed Freih in the 40th minute and Youssef Nasser in the 55th minute. Youssef Nasser (17) and Muhammad Al-Marhoon (67) netted goals for Kuwait Club.
Maaloul's adept leadership instilled confidence in his players’ post-expulsions, guiding them effectively while Al-Fahaheel struggled with confusion and haste. Firas Al-Khatib, the Syrian team's coach, appeared unable to manage the situation effectively, leaving his team seemingly incomplete on the field. Notably, Al-Fahaheel, not contending for the title, faced less pressure compared to Kuwait Club. With 57 points, Kuwait Club maintained its lead in the Premier League.
Maaloul commended referee Abdullah Al-Jamali, labeling his decisions in the match as "world-class" and asserting their correctness. Despite significant numerical disadvantages for over a half, Maaloul praised his team's discipline, expressing optimism for the remaining four rounds. Highlighting ongoing competition between Kuwait Club, Al-Arabi, and Al-Qadisiya, Maaloul emphasized that final-round confrontations between these teams remain pivotal.
Maaloul declined to comment on player Jumaa Saeed's frustration at non-participation, indicating it will be addressed internally.
Firas Al-Khatib acknowledged a strong first half for Al-Fahaheel but lamented missed opportunities and the impact of absent key players. Al-Fahaheel failed to capitalize on Kuwait Club’s numerical disadvantage, displaying poor performance according to Al-Khatib, who accepted responsibility for the defeat. He expressed hope for redemption in future matches. Regarding contract renewal with Al-Fahaheel next season, Al-Khatib stated no decision had been made yet.
