Tough times for Al-Kuwait as Amri joins AFC Cup absence list

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 9: Following medical examinations, Kuwaiti-Tunisian professional Yassin Amri has been diagnosed with a leg muscle tear, leading to an expected absence of up to 30 days.

Amri sustained the injury during his team’s recent match against Al Arabi in the eighth round of the Zain Premier League, rendering him unable to complete the game.

Unfortunately, Amri is now part of the list of players unavailable for the upcoming match against Al-Wahdat of Jordan in the sixth and final round of the second group competitions in the AFC Cup. This list also includes Youssef Nasser, Ibrahim Kamil, and goalkeeper Dhari Al-Otaibi, who are all suspended.

“Al-Abyad” will wrap up its training in Amman tonight in preparation for the showdown with Jordanian side Al-Wahdat. The Kuwaiti delegation, led by Deputy Head of the Football Staff Adel Oqla, arrived in Jordan two days ago with a 22-player squad. Yesterday, the team had their first training session in Amman under the guidance of returning Tunisian coach Nabil Maaloul. Maaloul is focused on refining strategies based on his analysis of Al-Wahdat’s performance in the first-round match and recent matches in the Jordanian League.

Adel Uqla expressed the team’s determination to secure a victory and advance to the second round. He noted that the withdrawal of the Palestinian team Jabal al-Mukaber from the first group would nullify the results of the fourth team in the three groups, presenting an opportunity for “Al-Abyad” if they emerge victorious against the Jordanian team.

Rejecting any excuses, Oqla emphasized that the team is fully focused on overcoming recent setbacks, especially against the Syrian team of Aleppo and the Iraqi team Kahraba in the last round.
