LOS ANGELES, Dec 7, (Agencies): Paris Hilton was resolute about becoming a mother but chose a different path by opting for a surrogate to fulfill her dream of having children with husband Carter Reum. In a recent interview, Hilton candidly shared the reasons behind this decision and the unique circumstances surrounding the arrival of their children, Phoenix and London.

Reflecting on her past, Hilton disclosed the lingering effects of her teenage years, particularly the traumatic experiences she endured at a therapeutic boarding school in the 1990s. “I just have so much PTSD from what I went through as a teenager,” she revealed, hinting at the abuse she faced. Hilton emphasized the impact of her high anxiety on her well-being and the unborn child, leading her to choose surrogacy. “If I’m in a doctor’s office, I get a shot, anything, I will literally have a panic attack and I can’t breathe. I just knew that would not be healthy for me or the baby, growing inside of someone who has such high anxiety,” she explained.

Furthermore, Hilton highlighted the chaos in her schedule, making it seemingly impossible to find the right time for pregnancy. “My schedule is out of control. There never would’ve been the right time to do it because there’s literally no time to do anything in my life,” she noted.

During the anticipation of their son’s arrival, Hilton and Reum chose to keep the pregnancy a closely guarded secret, even from friends and family. Hilton expressed the desire to shield her child from any negative energy, considering her life’s public nature. “My life has been so public, so out there. I didn’t want my son coming into this world with any negative energy. I’m really happy I did it that way, just for Carter and I to have that journey together without the outside world chirping in,” she said.

Control over her narrative was crucial for Hilton, who has experienced her story being told by the media for a significant part of her life. “My narrative and my story have been told by the media for half my life, and I just didn’t want my child being put out into the world without me being in control,” she added, emphasizing the protective instincts that come with motherhood. “You become a mama bear.”
