WHILE several Arab nations are wallowing in crises that threaten their destiny due to wrong calculations in internal politics, the Kingdom of Morocco continues to move firmly towards development as seen in the steps taken by King Muhammad VI in relation to politics, economy and culture. Because of those steps, Morocco has achieved high rates of development in every aspect, especially in matters concerning the fight against terrorism which started in its institutions, curriculum and then the individuals — the citizens.

The King of Morocco is credited for his constant concern when it comes to human development before focusing on construction. Without limiting the effort of success in the internal level, he made sure that Morocco is present in the Arab World, Africa and the international community ensuring it maintains an effective position within its surroundings.

This is the literal interpretation of the monarch’s speech which he titled as, “Diplomacy of Words and Actions”, during the 17th anniversary of his ascension to power. Observers would testify that this diplomacy has many qualities of achievements in addressing Arab issues. What Morocco has achieved in the past years is a clear example of true partnership, especially with the members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), in solving all issues that the region is facing.

Therefore, the GCC countries proudly praised the speech of Morocco’s monarch as they are in this partnership. The continuation of this cooperation between the two flanks of the Arab World, its East and West, is among the principles of the creative diplomacy set by this leader who is keen on raising the Arab status. The Arab and global factors of interest in Morocco, particularly in this period of time, are not due to the fact that the country is a safe resort for investments. It is also considered the global gate to the African continent.

Therefore, Muhammad VI has been striving since the start to increase the contribution of the private sector to development and expand it due to his conviction that the sector is the main pillar in enhancement of stability. It is not limited to Moroccans as he watered down all obstacles in front of investors from the GCC, Arab and foreign countries.

This led to the huge role of international partnership, making Morocco a productive industrial base which reduces burden caused by imports on national income. This illuminating economic vision was also a factor of interest for the GCC nationals because they believe this huge Arab country is an ideal and strategic economic and political base for building Arab partnership and cooperation on solid ground. For the past 17 years, we, the GCC countries, have been following up the journey of advancement being taken by the Moroccan monarch and the firm steps towards the course of improvement that continue to cement itself daily. This course is internally executed through well-studied democratically enhancing stages.

With regard to foreign policies, Morocco enhanced its international relations as it has proven through the positive returns in the Kingdom and its partners, especially the GCC countries which have been striving for more contribution to Morocco’s economic movement. Therefore, we are not wrong whenever we say literally: Muhammad VI, King of beautiful surprises.
