Kuwait Takes Strides Towards Professional Engineering Accreditation with India

KUWAIT CITY, April 17: The President of the Society of Engineers, Faisal Al-Atl, has unveiled plans to launch a dedicated digital platform aimed at recruiting engineers from diverse nationalities. This platform will ensure that candidates’ qualifications and experiences align with the profession’s requirements, followed by accreditation procedures and examinations upon their arrival in the country. Al-Atl made this announcement during a meeting with the Ambassador of India, Dr. Adarsh Swaika, alongside Manas Patel, the First Secretary for Labor Affairs, and Anchita Kadhwas, the Second Secretary for Consular Affairs, in the presence of several association members.

This initiative is part of the Society’s ambition to eliminate unaccredited engineering work in Kuwait, in collaboration with the Indian Embassy to eliminate unaccredited engineering practices in Kuwait. Al-Atl highlighted the Society’s endorsement of the Indian National Council (NBA) lists and the global index, the Washington Accord. He expressed gratitude for the cooperation with the embassy, which has notably reduced the number of unaccredited engineers from the Indian community.

The Indian Embassy invited the Society to visit the Ministry of Higher Education in India and learn about advancements in the educational process and other accreditation bodies. Al-Atl expressed confidence in the Society’s Engineering Qualifications Evaluation and Accreditation Committee’s readiness for cooperation and strengthening ties.

Ambassador Swaika praised the existing collaboration with the association and mentioned the need to address dozens of cases in cooperation with the association to meet Kuwait’s professional accreditation requirements. Indian accreditation bodies and universities are prepared to meet Kuwait’s accreditation requirements. Ambassador Suika presented a list of accreditation foundation guidelines to the central Indian government and a list of Indian community engineers for cooperation with the association.
