DOHA, April 15: This evening marks the conclusion of the Kuwait Olympic football team’s training sessions at the Qatar University stadiums. It is gearing up to face Vietnam in the opening round of the fourth group competitions of the AFC U-23 Cup finals. This prestigious tournament commenced yesterday and will run until May 3rd. Alongside Kuwait and Vietnam, the group includes Uzbekistan and Malaysia.

Under the guidance of Portuguese coach Emilio Peixe, the team is striving to find the optimal lineup during its final training session before the tournament kicks off. Kuwait targets a positive result that will boost morale and enhance its prospects of advancing to the quarter-finals.

The team’s technical staff has been diligently implementing multiple tactics during recent training sessions to formulate a comprehensive strategy. They have emphasized the importance of focus and precise execution of instructions to attain their desired objectives.

It’s noteworthy that the participating teams have been divided into four groups, with each group comprising four teams. These teams will engage in a round-robin league format, and the top two teams from each group will secure berths in the quarter-finals.

Additionally, today features four captivating matches on the tournament’s second day. Saudi Arabia clashes with Tajikistan, while Iraq takes on Thailand in the third group’s encounters. Meanwhile, Japan squares off against China in the second group, and the UAE national team faces off against the South Korean national team.

Qualification for the Olympic Games in Paris 2024 awaits the teams finishing in the top three positions, whereas the fourth-placed team will contend in the global Olympic qualifier against Guinea, the fourth African Cup finisher.
