Kuwait falls to Vietnam in the AFC U-23 Asia Cup Group D opener

DOHA, April 18, (KUNA): The Kuwait Olympic team suffered a 1-3 defeat against Vietnam in the AFC U-23 Asia Cup Group D opener held at Al Janoub Stadium in Doha.
Van Tung Nguyen secured the opener for Vietnam while Kuwait’s Solaiman Al-Awadhi netted the equalizer later, leaving the half at 1-1. However, in the second half, Vietnam’s Vi Hao Bui scored two more goals in the 47th and 76th minutes, securing the victory.
Meanwhile, in the same group, Uzbekistan emerged victorious with a 2-0 win over Malaysia, courtesy of Jasurbek Jaloliddinov in the 11th minute and Ulugbek Khoshimov in the 83rd minute. As a result, Vietnam leads the group with three points, followed by Uzbekistan, Kuwait, and Malaysia.
Looking ahead, Indonesia will face Australia, while Jordan will take on Qatar in the Group A competition on Thursday. The championship, which began on Monday in Qatar with 16 participating teams, is scheduled to continue until May 3rd.
