KUWAIT CITY, March 23: Al-Qadisiya won the Federation Cup in its 57th edition after a hard-fought 25-22, 23-25, 23-35, 25-21, 15-12 victory against Kuwait Club. Meanwhile, Burgan secured third place by defeating Al-Shabab 3-1 in the match determining the third and fourth positions.

Following the gripping final match, Dr. Jaber Al-Marri, the President of the Volleyball Federation, alongside members of the Federation and the Board of Directors of both Kuwait Club and Al-Qadisiya, ceremoniously crowned the winning teams in the top three positions. Dr. Jaber Al Marri congratulated the Al-Qadisiya for its outstanding achievement while expressing best wishes for success to all participating teams.

Reflecting on the match’s high technical standard, Dr. Jaber Al Marri remarked, “The final match showcased exceptional skill from both teams, extending it to the fifth half.” He emphasized the Federation’s commitment to organizing robust tournaments aimed at enhancing the sport locally, with the ultimate goal of strengthening the national team.

Hussein Al-Qabandi, a member of the Board of Directors of Al-Qadisiya Club and Head of the Volleyball Authority, praised the club’s management, the dedicated technical and administrative staff, the players, and the passionate Al-Asfar fans for their collective effort in securing the Federation Cup title. He assured continued stellar performance from the team in the upcoming Golden Square matches of the General League.

Coach Redha Ali, of Al-Qadisiya, attributed the Federation Cup victory to four months of relentless dedication and the collective efforts of the players. He acknowledged the challenging nature of the final match and commended the players for executing brilliant tactics, enabling the Royal team to clinch the title.

Transitioning to upcoming events, the golden square matches of the volleyball league are set to kick off today at the Al-Ittihad Hall in the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Complex. The first fixture features Kuwait Club, topping the preliminary round, facing off against Al-Arabi, ranked fourth in the standings, at 9:00 pm. Tomorrow, at the same venue and time, Al-Qadisiya II will take on Kazma III in what promises to be another thrilling encounter.
