KUWAIT CITY, Feb 27:  During the recent national holiday celebrations, the Ministry of Health disclosed that 136 cases were treated, with 17 individuals transferred to hospitals, including those involved in 3 road accidents. This year saw a significant reduction of 95.8% in eye injuries compared to the previous year’s festivities, as confirmed by Dr. Ahmed Al-Shatti, Director of the Ministry’s Medical Emergency Department. Al-Shatti credited this decrease to a combination of increased utilization of emergency medical centers and clinics, enhanced ambulance services, and a reduction in the number of road accidents, which decreased from 12 to 3, aided by a traffic awareness campaign by the Ministry of Interior and rainy weather conditions during the celebrations.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Foudari, Chairman of the Council of Eye Departments in the Ministry, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the remarkable decline in eye injuries during the current national holiday period compared to the same period last year. With only 14 cases reported across all governorates this year, down from 331 cases in the previous year, Al-Foudari praised the collaborative efforts of state authorities in ensuring a safe and dignified celebration. He lauded the Kuwaiti society’s high level of awareness and adherence to legal frameworks, attributing the positive outcomes to their commitment to health guidelines, which were reflected in the notable reduction in eye injuries.
