KUWAIT CITY, July 18: Minister of Education, Dr. Hamad Al-Adwani, has submitted his resignation to the Council of Ministers for a number of reasons most notably his adherence to his powers and interference in the affairs of his specialties from outside the ministry, in addition to the parliamentary pressures he was subjected to recently, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The minister in his resignation letter claimed he was not given the opportunity to implement the reform plan that he set to advance education and address problems at the higher education and other education sectors, in addition to the government’s failure to provide sufficient support in the face of these pressures and continuous interference in his work.

The sources indicated Al-Adwani also refused concessions and did not bow to pressure, indicating that the Council of Ministers is heading towards appointing the Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Dr. Jassim Al-Ustad, as acting Minister of Education. Al-Adwani’s resignation from the government is the second within a week, after the resignation of Finance Minister Manaf Al-Hajri, which was accepted on July 12. Another decree was issued appointing Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Oil, Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment Saad Al-Barrak as acting Minister of Finance.
