KUWAIT CITY, May 1: Sudan’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Awad al-Karim al-Raih Bella, said “Kuwaiti investments in Khartoum were not affected by the events taking place in his country,” pointing out at the same time that “the armed forces are protecting the Kuwaiti embassy in the Sudanese capital after an attempt to attack the ambassador’s residence by rebel forces. Bella during an interview with Al-Seyassah daily praised Kuwait’s speed in evacuating its nationals from Sudan, stressing that this “reflects its interest in its citizens,” while expressing his country’s great appreciation for the statements of the Kuwaiti Cabinet and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs supporting the return of stability in his country.

Regarding the difficulties that the community may face with regard to residency or passports, he stressed that “there is good communication with the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and it understands greatly the conditions our country is going through,” adding, “We are very confident that we will find help and support from all parties in the State of Kuwait.” With regard to the events unfolding in his country, the Sudanese envoy stressed security and peace will prevail throughout Sudan soon after the armed forces were able to absorb what he called ‘the first shock’, noting that “90 percent of the Rapid Support Forces have vanished and that the army has begun to deal with the remaining pockets of the rebellion that Dagalo led with the help of some regional and international parties.

While pointing out that the political path in Sudan is absolutely certain after eliminating the rebellion and bringing its leaders to justice, Ambassador Bella pointed out that his country “currently needs urgent assistance of medicines and medical supplies,” and after the situation stabilizes, the focus will be on reconstruction. He stressed that the tour of the presidential envoy, Ambassador Daiffallah Al-Haj Ali, in the region aims to “explain the size and dimensions of the treacherous coup led by the rebel Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo, commander of the Rapid Support militia, with some power-hungry agents, with the support of regional and international parties, with the aim of kidnapping the Sudanese state by armed force.” By Shawqi Mahmoud Al-Seyassah Staff
