Kuwait imposed highest number of travel bans in first quarter of 2023

KUWAIT CITY, July 6: In an indication of the increase in judicial claims of all kinds, statistics issued by the Statistics and Research Department of the Ministry of Justice for the first quarter of this year revealed that the number of procedures related to travel ban amounted to 20,939, which is the largest number in terms of procedures of the ruling execution departments, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

The statistics explained that the total procedures implemented in the various execution departments in all governorates during the month of April alone amounted to 538,958, which are distributed as follows: Capital 142,851, Hawally 86,226, Ahmadi 76,485, Jahra 65,134, Mubarak Al-Kabeer 64,492, Farwaniya 102,569, then the airport by 1,201.

The procedures for requesting executive seizure of what the debtor owes to others accounted for the largest number of procedures, amounting to 32.3 percent, followed by the procedures for the minutes of executive attachment of what belonged to the debtor with others by 15.4 percent. The procedures for opening a file to adjust alimony constituted the least number of procedures, which is 0.01 percent.

In terms of the branches, the statistics indicated that the procedures of the Capital branch represented the largest number in April, with 26.5 percent, followed by the procedures of the Farwaniya branch by 19 percent, and then the procedures of the Hawally and Ahmadi branches with 16 percent and 14.2 percent respectively. It was followed by the procedures of the Jahra and Mubarak Al-Kabeer branches with 12.1 percent and 12 percent respectively, and finally the airport branch with 0.2 percent.

By comparing the procedures of the execution departments during the month of April 2023 with the same month in the previous year, the following seems clear:

The total number of procedures in April increased by 61.6 percent compared to the corresponding month of the year 2022 due to an increase in the number of procedures in most branches, with the highest increase in the Farwaniya branch reaching 130.9 percent, followed by the Mubarak Al-Kabeer branch with 106.5 percent, then Jahra branch with 60.7 percent, the Capital and Ahmadi branches with 45.7 percent and 44.9 percent respectively and finally the Hawally branch with 35.3 percent. A decrease was only witnessed in the airport branch by 58.2 percent during this month compared to the corresponding month the previous year.
