KUWAIT CITY, Aug 28: The Misdemeanor Court has sentenced a blogger known as Sheikh Al-Jebrah to three years in prison with hard labor over a blog defying the right of His Highness the Amir, his authority and status.

Al-Jebrah allegedly posted libelous statements via his Twitter handle and the Public Prosecution Department charged him for defying the Amiri entity, indicating his blogs were tendered as concrete proof against him.

Case adjourned: The Criminal Court adjourned to September 25 the State Security case filed against Lawyer Hani Hussain who was accused for joining the Lebanese Hezbollah. The session was adjourned to summon an officer from State Security Department and an officer from the Criminal Investigation Department.

In the last court session, Lawyer Hussain denied the allegations, stating that he only filmed the video clip but did not share it. The Public Prosecution had charged Lawyer Hussain with joining Hezbollah and making propagation videos to invite others to join it as well as misusing his mobile phone. It referred Lawyer Hussain to the Criminal Court due to the abovementioned accusations.

It is worth mentioning that joining Hezbollah is banned based on the verdict issued by the Court of Cassation in the lawsuit of “Abdali Cell”. The verdict considered Hezbollah as a party that aims at destroying the basic pillars of the State.
