5 years jail for assaulting old lady

KUWAIT CITY, May 7: The Criminal Court ruled to imprison a Kuwaiti woman for five years with hard labor for assaulting an elderly woman, reports Al-Anba daily. Case files indicate that the assault happened in a famous market when the victim’s six-year-old grandson entered the restroom for women, as the defendant shouted at the child and then pushed his grandmother such that the latter fell on the floor. Attorney Mohammad Al-Sayegh, lawyer for the victim, confirmed that the accused assaulted his client.
He presented medical reports and surveillance camera recordings that documented what happened to the elderly woman outside the bathroom. Al-Sayegh demanded that the accused be punished in accordance with the Penal Code, and that she be obliged to pay his client KD5,001 temporary compensation for the material and moral damages suffered by the elderly woman.
