KUWAIT CITY, Jan 27: The Salwa Al-Sabah Club Women’s Volleyball Tournament kicked off under the patronage of Sheikha Naima Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Chairperson of the Club’s Board of Directors. The tournament, featuring the “Salwa” clubs alongside Iraqi Acad Ankawa and Lebanese Byblos clubs, is scheduled to run until the 31st of this month.

This event follows the recent friendly women’s handball tournament organized by the club, aligning with the board’s strategy to attract Gulf and Arab teams for friendly competitions. This approach aims to fortify the club’s teams, providing them with valuable experience and a competitive edge before the commencement of local tournaments.

Sheikha Naima Al-Ahmad extended a warm welcome to the participating delegations in the friendly volleyball tournament, emphasizing the club’s commitment to organizing such events. She highlighted their significance in enabling players to gain experience through interactions with Arab teams and exposure to diverse volleyball styles.

As part of the club’s overarching policy to enhance teams comprehensively, Sheikha Naima Al-Ahmad stressed the importance of preparing the teams for both local and international competitions.In her dual role as one of Salwa Club’s volleyball players, Sheikha Naima Al-Ahmad urged for an honorable representation during the tournament, aspiring to showcase Kuwaiti women’s sports prowess.

Shifting to the General Volleyball League, Kazma secured a 3-0 victory over Al-Arabi, while Al-Sahel celebrated its first league win by defeating Al-Sulaibikhat 3-1. The current team standings are as follows: Al-Kuwait, Al-Qadisiya, Kazma, and Burgan each with 31 points (with matches postponed for Al-Kuwait and Al-Qadisiya), Al-Arabi at 28, Al-Shabab at 18, Yarmouk at 16, Al-Tadamon at 15, and Al-Sahel and Sulaibkhat with 3 points each.
