Kuwaiti goalkeeper Safar receives offer from Austrian Premier League giants

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 10: Ali Safar, the esteemed goalkeeper of the national handball team has received a lucrative professional offer from a prominent team in the Austrian Premier League, eager to enlist the services of the Kuwaiti handball guardian known as “Octopus.” Notably, Safar had previously showcased his skills professionally with the Macedonian team Vardar in 2021, making him the first Gulf national to compete at the professional level in Europe.

Reflecting on his time with Vardar, Safar expressed the significant benefits of the professional experience gained. Having received European offers in the past, he chose to carefully evaluate and study these opportunities, particularly considering his active participation with the national team and the Kuwait Club in various foreign tournaments.

Safar disclosed that ongoing negotiations are in progress with the Austrian club, which aims to have him on board from mid-February until the end of the season. He emphasized that the decision now lies in the hands of the Kuwait Club’s Board of Directors.

In gratitude, Safar extended sincere thanks to Kuwait Club President Khaled Al-Ghanem, who had previously granted him approval to pursue professionalism at Vardar. Safar expressed hope to replicate this enriching experience, foreseeing substantial benefits for both his individual performance and contributions to both the club and the national team.
