The General Assembly of the Kuwait Olympic Committee is in progress.

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 23: The Kuwait Olympic Committee has urged all affiliated sports bodies to adhere to the decision made by the National Authority for Sports Arbitration on September 4. The decision entails the non-recognition of the Jahra Club’s Board of Directors, as stated in the arbitration ruling. In a late-night statement on Wednesday, the committee, through Secretary Hussein Al-Musallam, declared its refusal to acknowledge any decisions made by general assemblies of sports bodies if members of the invalidated Jahra Club’s Board of Directors are present.

The statement emphasized the invalidity of the procedures related to the General Assembly held on January 12, 2023, and the subsequent elections, in accordance with the earlier ruling on the Jahra Club’s Board of Directors. Furthermore, it highlighted a ruling on November 5, rejecting the dispute and underscoring the binding nature of arbitration awards once signed by the Chairman of the Electoral Commission, in accordance with Law No. 87 of 2017.

Meanwhile, the Jahra Club’s Board of Directors has achieved a historic financial milestone through a 20-year, 28 million dinars investment in a 3,000-square-meter area by an investment company. Board member Tawari Madloul expressed the board’s commitment to benefiting the club and emphasized that tenders would be issued for larger areas without impacting the club’s game fields, following legal frameworks and sports body regulations.

The Kuwait Olympic Committee’s extraordinary general assembly is scheduled for December 3, where the new board of directors will be elected. The approval of the previous Board of Directors’ meeting and the selection of the Electoral Committee members, Abdullah Adnan Al-Roudhan, Athbi Tawfiq Al-Tahoun, and Muhammad Murshid Al-Otaibi, were announced. Candidacy for Kuwait Olympic Committee membership opens on the upcoming Sunday for three days, with a tripartite committee formed to review the meeting minutes. Arbitrators Saud Al-Hamdan and Ahmed Shaaban were also approved for National Authority for Sports Arbitration membership.
