Kuwait fencing teams gear up for Asian Championship with intensive training

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 9: The training sessions for the junior and junior fencing teams commenced under the guidance of the technical staff, led by national coach Saud Al-Zamil, Senegalese coach Baba Toure, and technical director Tariq Mahdi. The training took place at Al-Ittihad Hall in Daiya, with the participation of 25 male and female players. The training is in preparation for the upcoming Asian Championship (men – women), scheduled to be held in the Bahraini capital, Manama, from February 16 to 25. Prior to the championship, the teams will undergo a 17-day training camp in Budapest, Hungary.

The Secretary and Chairman of the National Teams Committee of the Kuwaiti Fencing Federation, Hamad Al-Awadhi, attended the training and encouraged the players to commit to their daily training routines, emphasizing the need to elevate their technical skills. He urged them to represent Kuwait honorably, raise the Kuwaiti flag high in the Asian Forum, and aim for podium finishes. Al-Awadhi assured full support for all team members during the Asian Championship.

Al-Awadhi expressed gratitude to the General Sports Authority, led by Director General Yousef Al-Baidan, for their substantial support. He recognized the efforts of Deputy Director-General Faisal Al-Yateem, Deputy Director-General Bashar Abdullah, and Director Khalifa Al-Tararwa for their contributions to facilitating administrative and financial procedures for the Fencing Federation.

Highlighting the commitment of Al-Baidan in overcoming obstacles, Al-Awadhi emphasized the pivotal role of the General Sports Authority in enhancing Kuwait’s sports achievements both domestically and internationally. He underscored the authority’s crucial role in advancing Kuwaiti sports, aligning with the aspirations and capabilities of the country’s sports youth.
