Kuwait Club, Al-Qadisiya head to Oman for the second West Asian Championship

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 31: Today, the volleyball delegation from Kuwait Club and Al-Qadisiya clubs embarks on their journey to the city of Sohar in Oman for the second edition of the West Asian Championship, taking place from February 2 to 11.Yesterday marked the conclusion of the external camp for Kuwait Club in Turkey, spanning 15 days and featuring four trial matches. Unfortunately, the team will be without the services of their star player Amer Al-Salim, who sustained an injury during the Turkish camp.

Simultaneously, Al-Qadisiya wrapped up its external camp in Dubai yesterday, engaging in four trial matches against Dubai, Al Wasl, Al Jazira, and Baniyas clubs.In the tournament draw, Al-Qadisiya finds itself in the first group alongside Al-Rayyan of Qatar, Al-Ibtisam of Saudi Arabia, Al-Seeb of Oman, and Baniyas of the Emirates. On the other hand, the runner-up of the first edition, Al-Kuwait, is placed in the second group with Khaibel Al-Mahra of Yemen, Al-Arabi of Qatar, Sohar of Oman, Shabab Al-Hussein of Jordan, and Al-Ahly of Bahrain.

The Al-Qadisiya is set to kick off its tournament journey next Saturday against Al-Ibtisam of Saudi Arabia, while Kuwait Club will face Al-Arabi of Qatar on the same day. All matches for the second West Asian Championship will take place in the Sohar Sports Complex hall.In a related development, a General Volleyball League match is scheduled for today at Al-Ittihad Hall in the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Complex, featuring Al-Arabi and Yarmouk at 5:15 pm.
