Sheikh Mubarak patronizes ceremony at Martyr’s Park – PM expresses gratitude to coalition states for liberating Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 26, (KUNA): The ceremony “homeland stamp” (basmat watan) was held at Al-Shaheed’s (Martyr’s) Park on Wednesday, under auspices and with attendance of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

His Highness the Premier was greeted upon arrival at the celebration’s site by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Deputy Minister of the Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Ali Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Acting Minister of State for Electricity and Water Sheikh Mohammad Al-Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs and the chairman of the higher committee for the national celebrations, Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah.

His Highness the Premier, in a statement to journalists on sidelines of the celebration, expressed congratulations to His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown prince and the people of Kuwait on the national occasions.

In remarks to KUNA, Sheikh Salman said the celebration was held at the Martyr’s Park for it is an edifice for remembering the national martyrs.

The martyrs’ sacrifices are “the foundations for Kuwait’s sustainability, our national unity, and what they have given for Kuwait will remain rooted in our hearts and memories.” He expressed gratitude to the countries that stood on Kuwait’s side at crises’ times, namely the coalition states, topped by Saudi Arabia, the GCC countries, Egypt, the US and Britain, paying tribute for these states for supporting Kuwait in the 1991 liberation.

“Kuwait will remain forever an ally of humanity, a country of peace and will not hesitate to offer help to any-one in need,” he affirmed.

The ceremony was attended by other ministers, states officials, families of martyrs and citizens.

Following the celebration, His Highness the Premier visited Kuwait Towers, pending the re-inauguration in March.
