KDD-KBL holds 2015 Prize distribution ceremony – Super Smashers crowned League Champions

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 26: The KDD – Kuwait Badminton League 2015 prize distribution ceremony was held at Ramada Hotel on the Dec 12, 2015. KDD – KBL is the premier and only professional badminton league in Kuwait.
Indian Badminton Association Kuwait in association with Kuwait Badminton federation had conceived the idea of a league earlier this year and successfully completed this year’s league as scheduled.
KDD –Kuwait Badminton League 2015 had 3 playoffs; February 2015, May 2015 and September 2015.
The league had 8 teams owned by IBAK members and were sponsored by individuals/Corporates. 102 top players who practices across different clubs in Kuwait were auctioned into each teams in January 2015. KDD – KBL was a fantastic opportunity for players where senior players helped and played with junior players and experiences and expertise were shared across.
Indian Badminton Association had earlier selected 8 Captains to help the owners during auctions and that decision helped in getting 8 balanced teams at the end of the auction which was justified by the fact that 7 out of 8 teams won medals during KDD – KBL 2015.
KDD — KBL 2015 Teams

February 2015 playoff was won by Aquacool Lions, the runner up was Shuttle dragons and the semifinalists were Alghanim catering services super smashers and Thanjai Ninjas
May 2015 playoff was won by Shuttle Dragons, the runner up was Acme Acers and the semifinalists were Thanjai Ninjas and Rainbow archers.
September 2015 edition was won by Alghanim Catering services Super Smashers, the runner up was Rainbow Archers and the semifinalists were Acme Acers and Royal Phoenix.
Alghanim Catering Super Smashers were crowned KDD – KBL 2015 Champions, Shuttle Dragons were the first runner up, Rainbow archers were 2nd runner up and Aquacool Lions was the 3rd runner up.
The function was a grand one where the current and the committee elect of IBAK were seen welcoming and entertaining the guests.
The VIP guests included representatives from Kuwait Badminton Federation and sponsors. Kuwait Badminton Federation was represented by Captain Mohammad Abdul Hadi, Chief Treasurer -KBF, V.V Subramanian VP – Business Integration- KDD, Mr. Walid Mourad, Marketing Manager-KDD, Mr. Abdulrahman Ahmed – Arwagulf ( Aquacool ), Mr Binu John Philip Vice Chairman – ACME International and Dr. Essa A AL Saadi .

Dr Manimara Chozhan in his presidential address stated that KBL 2016 edition will have representation from overseas players and KBL 2016 first playoff will happen on Feb 25 and 26, 2016.
