KUWAIT CITY, Nov 26: Former Governor of the Capital Governorate has warned of a strange phenomenon in Kuwait which is promoted via the social media, reports Al-Qabas daily. The daily added, the social media and media means are abuzz with advertisements of people promoting or selling home-made foodstuff which is prepared inside unlicensed kitchens in several areas of Kuwait.

The warning came based on complaints filed by some Kuwaitis who fear a catastrophe particularly since these kitchens operate in secret in the absence of supervision. Al-Muhanna indicated this phenomenon constitutes a danger to the public health and environment.

The sources indicated it is becoming increasingly difficult for officials to clamp down on such activity because the Municipality employees cannot enter private houses without permission from the Public Prosecution or the Ministry of Interior.

Embezzlers caught: An unidentified senior female employee and her male subordinate have been arrested and referred to the Public Prosecution for allegedly embezzling KD 230,000 from the Ministry of Electricity and Water, reports Al-Shahed daily. The daily added, this money belongs to the citizens and expatriates who had paid their outstanding electricity bills. Investigations revealed the female employee had embezzled KD 190,000 and the subordinate KD 30,000.
