Recently, the intensive and commendable activity of the Public Relations and Security Media Department of the Ministry of Interior, which is run by Major General Tawheed Al-Kandari, has increased especially with regard to its rapid responses to any security news or rumour, clarifying the incident, often with audio and video, and putting an immediate end to confusion and malicious rumors.

The Department has also recently sent audio visual messages showing one of the interior ministry officers asking families to pay attention to the health and safety of their children, and the males in particular, and to call 112 or 1884141 to report any cases of suspected drug abuse or addiction, or even when they notice any unfamiliar symptoms in any family member, and once reported, all cases will be dealt with in strict confidence.

On this occasion, we hope that this department will send similar messages to the families themselves, asking them to also report any cases of assault that takes place among family members especially since this type of physical assault tends to increase!

The Department must also resort to more advanced means in the fight against drugs. Some of them, for example, are smuggled into the country by travelers coming through various ports, especially by air, and some smugglers who are ignorant or young, who are unaware of the fate that awaits them if they are caught especially those who dream of making a fast buck.

Such people should be warned and educated at the airports of their countries, during the flight, before landing, and explain to them what will happen if they are caught, and there should be no problem in this because the countries from which drugs come are few.

The Drugs Fighting Department should also benefit from the Singaporean experience in this field, as it is one of the few countries in Asia that is almost devoid of smugglers and of course drug addicts.

The Information Department in the Ministry of Interior should send alerts of the danger of drugs in all media and all possible ways seeking the help of stars who have a positive impact on young people.

It is unreasonable for United Nations agencies to resort to using our stars as goodwill ambassadors while our security and awareness services do not benefit from their stardom, especially in the field of drug control.

These celebrities and stars will often do their educational and charity work for free, and the matter can extend to the assistance of some members of the National Assembly, other politicians, writers, journalists and prominent novelists in the same field.

Note: We thank the Anti-Narcotics Forces for exposing the drug factory in Al-Wafra and the media department did not hesitate to announce an international network behind this crime, and that among the accused were citizens.
