KUWAIT CITY, March 12: The Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmad Abdulwahab Al-Awadhi, has issued a ministerial decree mandating pediatricians and nurses working in intensive care units for premature infants to obtain certification in the advanced life support training course (known as cardiopulmonary resuscitation or PALS) from accredited training centers such as the American Heart Association (AHA) and the American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) before employment or promotion.

The decision is part of efforts aimed at enhancing the efficiency of medical personnel and improving the quality of services offered to pediatric patients. It aligns with the government’s action plan to raise the level of healthcare standards and facilitate citizens’ access to top-quality services.

It is worth highlighting that this decision comes in conjunction with the ministerial resolution No. 63/2024, which mandates all doctors, dentists, pharmacists, and allied health workers in hospitals, specialized centers, and primary care centers affiliated with the ministry, and workers in the private medical sector to undergo training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation from accredited training centers affiliated with the American Heart Association (AHA) and the American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) upon appointment and promotion.
