Authority has so far dealt with 14,879 ‘individuals’ – MoI extends retirement age to 65

KUWAIT CITY, April 30: The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) dealt with 14,879 individuals since the launching of its services on various social media platforms, reports Al-Anba daily quoting PAM’s Public Relations Department Director Aseel Al- Meziad.

Al-Meziad disclosed the authority releases daily reports published on local newspapers, in addition to television and radio broadcasts by senior officials and directors for the public to be updated. She said her department has so far dealt with 208 complaints and questions through WhatsApp and 14,649 inquiries on Twitter.

She added the followers on Twitter reached 2,761 and the authority responded to 20 questions through Instagram with 800 followers. She also called on all employees and employers to closely follow up reports of the authority on social media for them to be aware of the recent laws and decisions.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah has cancelled the decision taken by the ministry to terminate the services of Bedoun and GCC employees, both civil and military, who are 60 and above years of age. As a humanitarian gesture, he extended the age limit to 65, in consideration of their social and financial conditions, reports Al-Rai daily quoting security sources. They said many of these employees are still paying installments of bank loans and have social conditions, indicating that this extension of age limit will apply for nearly 1,200 employees.

Also Board Member of the Retirees Society Anwar Al-Sharhan praised the efforts exerted by Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Al-Subaih concerning the official declaration of the society, reports Al-Anba daily.

Al-Sharhan revealed the society handles issues related to retirees and does its best to respond to their demands. He said the society helps retirees overcome their financial, health and social problems. He urged all relevant authorities to increase the minimum monthly pension for retirees and lay down an effective mechanism to ensure yearly pension increment for them. He also stressed the need to provide retirees with health insurance and exempt them from fees for services in various authorities.
