KUWAIT CITY, April 14: During a press conference at Al-Nasr Club’s headquarters, Khaled Al-Shraida, Chairman of the Board of Directors, criticized the heavy security presence resembling a military barracks deployed by the Interior Ministry the day before yesterday. The heightened security measures were ostensibly to ensure the presence of an individual who had been stripped of their official status.

Al-Shraida expressed gratitude to the Acting Minister of the Interior for understanding the club’s situation, particularly in light of the Court of Arbitration for Sport’s ruling affirming the validity of the current board of directors’ mandate for the 2024-2028 terms.

He lamented the unfortunate situation of having a sports club encumbered by such a significant security presence, attributing the ordeal to Youssef Al-Baidan, the Director of the General Sports Authority, whom he accused of overstepping his financial oversight authority.

Al-Shraida underscored that the rulings in favor of the club’s board of directors were not arbitrary decisions but rather legally binding outcomes, emphasizing that Al-Baidan’s actions have impeded the progress of sports, citing the current situation at Al-Nasr Club as evidence.

Supporting Al-Shraida’s stance, Abdulaziz Al-Nami, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, called for the impartial application of the law and full adherence to court rulings.

Secretary of Al-Nasr Club, Ali Al-Dasam, criticized Al-Baidan’s perceived hypocrisy, noting his previous advocacy against government interference in sports affairs during the suspension of Kuwaiti sports. He highlighted the irony of Al-Baidan’s current involvement in the club’s affairs.
