Kuwait, the Islamic world, and the Al-Aqsa Mosque lost Sheikh and preacher Ahmad Abdulaziz Al- Qattan on Monday, 23/5/2022, who had many achivements attached to his name. He devoted his time and effort to the Islamic call and made a platform for defending Al-Aqsa Mosque in the eighties and nineties, where he was a student, at the hands of Sheikh Hassan Ayoub, may God have mercy on him.

Sheikh Al-Qattan was an eloquent and influential orator and a lover of poetry and history, and the poet Ahmad Matar had a share in his sermons that revealed the weakness of some Arab regimes and their conspiracy against Al-Quds Al-Sharif and the marketing of the peace process.

He began preaching at Al-Sabih Mosque in 1970, then Al-Bassam Mosque, and emerged in Al-Alban Mosque following his famous sermon titled The Wailing Message from Hama in February 1982 until he was transferred to Al-Muzaini Mosque in 1984, and then Al-Kulaib Mosque in Cordoba in 1986. Infl uenced by his rhetorical faculty and linguistic eloquence, he did not stop at this point, but he had almost daily lessons in the various mosques of Kuwait, and he had a fixed lesson that he gave at the Al-Islah Society theatre. He also lectured for Kuwaiti students in America and Europe, visited them and gave lessons within the Student Union conferences.

He also has more than 2,000 tapes of Friday sermons and religious lessons, which he made in the good deeds of his works, circulated by everyone before the emergence of social networks. Sheikh Al-Qattan also has several books related to the family education curriculum, a series of preaching thoughts, a series of raising children, the oppressed Caliph Haroun al-Rasheed, and so on. It is worth mentioning that Sheikh Al-Qattan was one of the members of the people’s delegation that visited Algeria headed by Ahmad Al-Sa’adoun, the former Speaker of the National Assembly on December 9, 1990. Algeria at that time supported the invader.

During the event which was organized by Algerian Rescue Front, several guests gave speeches against Kuwait , with ninety thousand people attending the event, the Kuwaiti delegation asked the organizers to have a word. Sheikh Al- Qattan spoke about what God opened for him and changed the public’s conviction and standing with the Kuwaiti cause. After he stopped his lectures, he turned to charitable work and worked as a consultant for charitable committees. And his participation in many festivals and television and radio interviews, he has a program on the Holy Quran Radio.

The late Sheikh Ahmad Al-Qattan left a great legacy in several fields. With these words, I cannot give this venerable Sheikh his right, but we have nothing but to say, as we bid farewell to this rare popular figure, that he compensates the Islamic nation with goodness, and we only say what satisfies God Almighty. We belong to God and to Him we shall return. And we ask God to inspire his family and lovers in Kuwait and abroad with patience and solace, and that we are saddened by your depart, O, Abu Abdullah.
