Mobile Youth Theater aims to attract talents in acting, writing & directing

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 11: The Public Authority for Youth launched on Thursday the “Mobile Youth Theater” competition aimed at attracting theatrical talents in acting, writing, directing, theater and literature in the six governorates, and incubating them to produce an integrated national theatrical work. Director-General of the authority, Dr Mishaal Al-Rabee, said in a press statement that the competition supports Kuwaiti talents and provides a platform that enables them to achieve their ambitions, enhances their spirit of innovation and teamwork, and opens the door to competition for young people interested in theater, art and literature, acting, directing, music and cinema.

Al-Rabee added that the young contestants will be trained by specialists for a period of two months in the Arts and Media for Youth program. After the training, the idea of the play will be presented to applicants in the field of authorship to write it and choose the best one to be the official text of the play next March at the Youth Theater Festival. He explained that the theatrical work that will be completed is a national work that carries positive, influential and purposeful ideas and will continue to be shown after the festival in various schools and theaters of youth centers free of charge to the public. He stated that the competition comes in implementation of the national youth policy aimed at empowering young people and supporting them to achieve leadership in all youth fields, indicating that it will contribute to revitalizing school theater, spreading theatrical culture and raising the artistic sense of young people. He stressed that this year’s Youth Theater Festival will be different in terms of the idea and the work of the participating teams, as its main idea is based on the impact of theater on society, pointing out that the winning teams and the mobile theater team will be honored at the end of the festival. He pointed out that the Youth Authority will launch the Lens Festival after the conclusion of the Youth Theater and will be under the title “Lens on Music”, and these projects stem from the authority’s belief in the importance of culture and art. Al-Rabee said that the competition comes within the state’s development plan 2021-2025, as it works on preparing integrated programs for youth within the projects of the national youth policy approved by the Council of Ministers and entrusted with the implementation of the Youth Authority. He called on young people between the ages of 14 and 34 years wishing to participate to register in the Youth Mobile Theater competition through the authority’s website (www.youth.gov.kw). ,(KUNA)
