As the academic year draws to a close, I want to congratulate students graduating from US universities— Alf mabrook, Class of 2018!  And congratulations to the parents who encouraged and supported you throughout your academic career and helped you reach this point. You earned what you have accomplished.

I like to say, “Study in the United States, Succeed in Kuwait.”  You bring back with you new skills to develop your own careers and new global connections that will benefit your country.  You join tens of thousands of Kuwaitis before you who received a quality education in the US. Your education opens new possibilities for your lives and gives you a competitive edge.

You have also forged new ties with your educational institutions, faculty and fellow students. You are the latest links between our two countries and our peoples.  I hope that you will share your experiences with others, including with the US Embassy, and if there are ways that we can work together to expand these connections and make the American educational experience even better, we hope you’ll share those ideas, too.

Benjamin Franklin said, “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.”  You, your families, and your government have invested in an education that goes beyond classroom walls.  You have studied hard, met many people, and seen a wide variety of places.  We hope that you return to Kuwait with new knowledge, ideas, and friends, ready to contribute to build Kuwait’s future.

The United States welcomes Kuwaiti students.  Through the US-Kuwait Strategic Dialogue, our countries and our peoples will continue to work hand-in-hand to expand educational and research ties.  We will strengthen our relationship and lift our countries up together.  And you, new graduates, have a big part to play.

Congratulations again, and good luck on your new endeavors!
