LAUSANNE, Switzerland, June 4: The International Aquatics Federation (World Aquatics) announced the implementation of a new anti-doping code following its meeting. The code takes effect immediately and strictly prohibits participation by individuals, organizations, or tournaments that promote or enable doping or drug use in aquatics.
World Aquatics President Husain Al-Musallam stated:
"Those who enable doping or drug-tainted sports are not welcome at World Aquatics, our championships, or our activities. This new code ensures our ability to protect the integrity of our competitions, the health and safety of our athletes, and the credibility of the global aquatics community."
Al-Musallam explained that the new code grants the World Aquatics Board of Directors the authority to assess the eligibility of any individual, including administrators, referees, coaches, or athletes, on a case-by-case basis for participation in federation events.
He also encouraged national federations to adopt similar policies to ensure consistency in anti-doping standards across the sport worldwide.
