WASHINGTON, May 3: US President Donald Trump said late Sunday evening that he expects a coronavirus vaccine to be available by "end of the year."
"I think we'll have a vaccine by the end of the year," Trump said on Fox News network. "We'll have a vaccine much sooner rather than later," he added.

Meanwhile, chairman and CEO of Gilead Sciences Daniel O'Day told CBS network "we intend to get (remdesivir) to patients in the early part of this next week, beginning to work with the government, which will determine which cities are most vulnerable and where the patients are that need this medicine."

Trump announced last week that Gilead "now has an EUA (emergency use authorization) from the FDA for remdesivir" after it showed to be "an important treatment for hospitalized coronavirus patients."
This comes as the US has the highest confirmed coronavirus cases and deaths globally, reaching at least 1.157,687 cases and 67,674 deaths
