KUWAIT CITY, Dec 24: The phenomenon of paying money for obtaining job in Kuwait is still widely prevalent in Kuwait which is promoted in the social media in spite of the efforts exerted by the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) to eradicate this menace as it continues to combat visa traders, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Although this activity has become much less following warnings by the concerned authority of the danger of getting a job in Kuwait through fictitious companies, through a visa trader who usually sells a ‘free visa’ – which in actual fact there is nothing called free visa.

Other methods of illegal trade in residence permit are helping transfer the visa from one sponsor to another for a minimum of 150 dinars. The Al-Qabas newspaper monitored several adverts which said they facilitate the transfer from one sponsor to another, whether on government projects, in the private sector, or small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

It was found especially on the Facebook a residence permit has a flat rate, approximately 500 dinars for one year and 750 dinars for the two years, although occupations vary. Those who can afford to pay more money can have the designation of his choice to help get the driving licence and in this case the price can range from 850 dinars to 1,000 dinars.

When the daily contacted some of the advertisers and it discovered most of the companies were fake and have offices in commercial complexes in Hawalli and Khaitan; they work two shifts of two hours each in the morning and evening.

The visa available in the private sector are for various designations a majority issued by customer service companies and for home delivery service while others offer jobs in general contracting projects.

However, what is surprising is the name of the advertiser in most cases is not known. In one of the advertisement, one of the advertisers said a company is looking for home delivery service drivers in explicit violation of the labor law. The advertisement stipulated that the driver who joins the company must own a vehicle or a bike to carry out the tasks assigned to him with a weekly day off.
