KUWAIT CITY, April 28: Although the Civil Service Commission (CSC) had approved the listing of Sabah Al-Ahmad to the first category of remote areas on Dec 5, 2018, non- Kuwaiti teachers (expatriates, Gulfs, bedoun) continue to wait for a decision in hopes they will soon be paid the allowances they deserve, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The education sources told the daily that the status of non-Kuwaiti teachers is vague and unclear, as the decision No. 9 of 2018 issued more than 5 months ago did not address the inclusion of allowance, and was based on the old CSC decision No. 18 of 2012, which speaks of entitlements only for Kuwaitis. The sources explained that the Ministry of Education had written to the CSC officially some time ago to inquire about the eligibility of non- Kuwaitis for the allowance and to identify the categories but the CSC has yet to respond.
