KUWAIT CITY, March 24: A number of teachers and educators, who participated in the educational forum organized by the Kuwait Teachers Association, emphasized the convenience of the two-group system currently in force in schools for not only teachers but also students and parents. At the same time, they highlighted the increase in educational loss among students, especially the primary school students, reports Al-Qabas daily. During the forum, they stressed the importance of defining the role of the teacher. They asked, “Is his/ her role really a teacher, an administrator, an alternate and a reserve?!” They stressed the need for them to see their assessment like the rest of the employees of state ministries, adding that it should not be kept confidential.

They called on the Ministry of Education to appreciate teachers who served for many years in education, up to 25 years, by giving them special treatment and privileges. They said the process of teachers’ quorum is a problem in schools, and there is no justice in it. In the end, it is a maldistribution issue among teachers, and a solution must be found to it and work should be carried out with a single rule in this aspect. They added, “Education must be a priority, and teachers must be promoted, especially since education is the basis of the country’s renaissance and the main pillar of its development. We hope more attention will be paid to the educational system”.

Meanwhile, a member of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Teachers Association Dr. Mansour Al-Abdali said that the association organized such a forum to hear the issues and problems faced by the workers in this field, and work on conveying their voice to the decision-makers in order to achieve what everyone aspires, as well as water down all obstacles facing them and provide the appropriate atmosphere for them to perform their mission to the fullest. In addition, Director of Activities Department at the Kuwait Teachers Association Haila Al-Tunaib explained that the forum is an extension of the previous forums organized by the association. It aims to find out the issues and problems that teachers face for their assistance, “especially since the association represents a loud voice for them”. The main goal is to improve the educational process. She thanked the Ministry of Education for allowing both male and female teachers to attend the forum.
