LOS ANGELES, Dec 2, (Agencies): In a rare public denouncement addressing what she labeled an "insane" rumor, Taylor Swift's longtime publicist, Tree Paine, took to social media on Nov 30 to criticize the anonymous gossip account DeuxMoi for spreading a hurtful and false allegation about the singer.
Expressing her frustration, Paine posted on Instagram in response to a Thursday Instagram story from DeuxMoi. The blind account claimed that Swift had a non-legal ceremony described as a marriage to her then-romantic partner, actor Joe Alwyn, "in either 2020 or 2021 in the UK." The anonymous writer insisted that this information was a fact.
Paine promptly refuted the claim in a tweet, stating, "There was NEVER a marriage or ceremony of ANY kind. This is an insane thing to post. It’s time for you to be held accountable for the pain and trauma you cause with posts like these."
The post about the alleged wedding was accompanied by a since-deleted message from DeuxMoi, seemingly challenging Paine. The account mentioned, "Well, I make zero dollars from lying… can publicists say the same." The person behind DeuxMoi, who remains unidentified, released a novel, "Anon Pls," last year, slated to become a TV series on Max, and hosts the Deux U podcast. Responding to Paine's criticism, the gossip blogger added, "Also, to relate something that is in reference to something that happened years ago to 'pain & trauma' after what just happened seems like a poor choice of words."
In a since-deleted post, DeuxMoi apologized to Taylor, acknowledging the gravity of the situation. The anonymous Instagram account is known for posting unverified celebrity gossip sourced from users, and it carries a disclaimer stating, "This account does not claim information published is based on fact."
Swift and Alwyn's breakup made headlines in April after a six-year relationship that was frequently the subject of what the singer referred to as "weird rumors."
