Sri Lankan maid dies of torture; Kuwaiti sponsor and his wife are being investigated

KUWAIT CITY, Sep 10: The security authorities have opened an investigation for torturing a Sri Lankan maid who died in Amiri hospital. The maid was brought to the hospital by her Kuwaiti sponsor and traces of burns and cuts and wounds were found on her body.

The Kuwaiti sponsor and his wife are being investigated to find out if more are involved in the case when a Sri Lankan maid aged 46 was brought to Amiri Hospital in critical condition. On examination it was found signs of torture and burns on her body and she was shifted to intensive care, but after few hours she died.   

The sponsor denied this and the reason, his wife has been detained and the victim’s body has been referred to the forensics department for a complete report and to determine the circumstances of what happened.
