Somali says fired at in early morning fight with Kuwaiti in Al-Jahra region

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 13: The security authorities are investigating the fight which took place between a Somali and a Kuwaiti in the Jahra Governorate at dawn during which gunshots were fired, reports Al-Anba daily. According to the security sources personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) have found empty casings at the site of the fight, which allegedly started with a verbal altercation and ended in assaulting each other. The security source said the incident began at about 2:00 am and dragged into the early hours of the morning.

The shooting reportedly happened in front of the Al-Waqyan Mosque in Jahra. The security sources said Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Operations Affairs, Major-General Jamal Al-Sayegh, instructed the rescue patrols to deal with the situation and as soon as the rescue patrols arrived, the situation was controlled, the men were arrested and an investigation was opened into the incident.

Those involved in the fight are believed to be a 20-year-old Somali and a 22-year-old Kuwaiti. Both suspects reportedly destroyed each other’s car. The Al-Rai daily said the Somali claimed the Kuwaiti fired at him and missed, but the Kuwaiti denied the allegation. However, the securitymen did not find the gun but found empty bullet casings.
